Chef de Partie - The Tú Restaurant & Bar

 

The Espiritu Hotel is seeking a Chef de Partie to join the kitchen team at the number #1 ranked restaurant in Vanuatu on TripAdvisor. 

The Tú is our in-house restaurant which can be found on the ground floor of the Hotel and is open from 7am – 9pm, seven days a week.  Our Head Chef and his team have created a Mediterranean-inspired all day menu, full of flavour, that utilises the locally grown, fresh and organic produce Vanuatu is famous for. The popular favourites are always on the menu - Santo beef, seasonal local lobster and tuna, however the specials board changes weekly. We also run Special Theme or Menu nights from time to time.

We are seeking an experienced Chef de Partie with the following essential and desirable qualifications.

Essential qualifications:

• At least 3-4 years’ Chef de Partie experience in a professional kitchen, with references
• Food Safety Certificate
• Ability to follow a menu precisely
• Ability to follow Food Safety and Cleanliness Standards at all times
• An ability to stay calm  in a sometimes high pressure environment
• An ability to keep to portion sizes
• You need to be enthusiastic and conscientious and take pride in your cooking and presentation skills
• Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and kitchen equipment
• Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Must be honest and reliable

Desirable skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent; culinary school training preferred
• First Aid and CPR certificate
• Knowledge of international cuisines
• Managing food purchasing and storage

Maintenance Staff / Handyman

 

The Espiritu Hotel seeks a Handyman to assist our Maintenance Supervisor with our 13-room air-conditioned, 3 storey boutique hotel and car rental in the heart of Luganville town, Santo.

Our facilities including a number of small offices, a laundry, bar and lounge, in-house restaurant, dive locker, storage rooms, outdoor seating in fare, large swimming pool, staff accommodation and our fleet of cars include 2 rental cars, plus staff vehicles and work truck. 

Do you have experience in plumbing, carpentry, and working with electrical tools? If you have a passion for problem-solving and a knack for fixing things, are reliable and hardworking, then we want to hear from you. You will be responsible for performing a variety of repair and maintenance tasks to keep our hotel, restaurant and pool facilities in top condition.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform plumbing repairs including fixing leaks, installing fixtures, and maintaining plumbing systems.
• Conduct carpentry work such as repairing doors, windows, furniture, and structural elements.
• Utilize electrical tools to perform basic electrical repairs and maintenance tasks.
• Drive company vehicles (manual) to various job sites as needed.
• Perform general maintenance and repair tasks in both residential and commercial settings.
• Assist with electrical or automotive work as needed.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in plumbing and carpentry maintenance.
• Valid manual driver's license (manual and truck).
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Experience using electrical tools and able to look after tools and equipment.
• Excellent communication skills, able to keep supervisor and colleagues informed.
• Punctual, reliable and honesty essential.

Desirable:

• Any electrical, automotive mechanic or air conditioning skills/experience highly desirable.
